Olympic Events: Still Hope for Conservatives

I happily admit to being a liberal academic, but in some areas I am clearly a hidebound conservative.  Mogul skiing, for example, is not a true Olympic sport.  It's something 20-year-olds do to destroy their knees.

And, apparently, the Greeks felt similarly.  I'm assuming that Mule and Mare racing were added in 500 BC and 496 BC while the organizers were drunk.  Then, in 444 BC, they finally sobered up and realized that the only "true" race was with horses, so they cancelled the Apene and Kalpe races...
