On our journey today, we made it to Phenos, a lovely little town that had a great archeological site with actual signs directing us to it! On the chromatodromos, through the tall grasses, wending about a kilometer, we made it to a closed gate! Of course, I felt somehow defrauded and misled, so having gotten out of the car to inspect the "quality" of the gate, I quickly discovered it was held together only by some loosely twisted wire. Of course, the easiest way to turn the car around was to "unlock" the gate, and open it, so Randall could drive around on the obvious dirt road just past.
The other thing we noticed was the sign about photos.
Seeing as how this was an obviously very inactive dig site, I felt that the best way to honor the request was to preserve the quality of this site by documenting it.
At least we did honor the rope barricade, and took pictures from a distance...
