Finally!
Well, we've made it to Greece, and this is our diary of the trip with postings from whoever gets the keyboard first (Randall won this round). We landed at Athens Airport at 6pm on Tuesday, May 8th, arriving via Munich. Greece, as we all know, is in a bit of economic trouble at the moment so we wasted no time pumping euros into the local transportation industry, putting 17 euros total into the bus (10 euros to Syntagma Square) and taxi (7 euros to the hotel) industry. However, things still looked a bit shaky and so after checking in we decided to invest a further 7 euros into the taxi industry to get us to a Taverna in the Plaka district. After an amazing meal -- local wine, yogurt, olives, bread, fried cheese (which was so good it could be problematic) as appetizers, and then pork souvlaki for me and roasted veal with peas for Lauren as mains -- we decided to see if the taxi industry was able to stand on its own two feet and walked back to the hotel, about 1.5 miles. Pictures and more as we progress, but for the moment, I'm off to bed...
