Animals in Strange Places

By now, we've done a fair amount of driving--from Athens to Delphi to Dodona to Olympia, we have visited all the major temples and oracles, making our pilgrimages through mountain passes and valleys, across rivers and inlets and beside some massive inland bodies of water.

And we love animals.  So, these were a few especially amusing scenes.

As we were driving into Dodona, part of the road in a very narrow series of mountainous switchbacks had been knocked out by a small rock slide, making the road 1.5 lanes at most.  The next switchback up, we encountered a herd of goats grazing and climbing on the rocks.


Then, outside the Temple at Dodona, we saw an unusual parking use for a herd of sheep:


Or this grouping of about 30 goats as we were at 800m elevation going to the acropolis at Alifira.  Not a person in sight; just goats wandering and the sounds of the bells (see the above video):
