Word of the Day: Hydraulis

Well, at least I'd never heard of it, but as you can see, a hydraulis, aka a 'water organ', is a musical instrument apparently invented in the 3rd century BC by Ctesibius of Alexandria.  The earliest actual example ever found was from the 1st century BC, uncovered in the excavation of a (wealthy) house in Dion.

No word on whether or not the children of the house were forced to take lessons, however.
