The Grass Is Always Browner

...over the buried archeological sites.  Lauren noted this early on during our travels:



Even though they're under the ground, it's pretty easy to see where the walls are buried.

Turns out this is a known technique, as I discovered by reading "Orthogonal Equations of Multi-Spectral Satellite Imagery for the Identification of Un-Excavated Archaeological Sites" by Agapiou et al., in Remote Sensing, 2013, 5(12), 6560-6586.  But I'm sure you already read that paper.
