What alphabet are we using?

Randall and I noticed this with some frequency on our first trip--that signs have transposed letters from the wrong alphabet.  I'll start this thread with this observation of one of the more amusing confluences.  The first word is written entirely in Greek and the second is entirely English.

I have often wondered how Greeks can figure out when something is spelled with "v" whether that is "n" or "v", or if it is "p" or rho?

As we come across other good examples, perhaps we will add to this thread.  Keeπ Xeckivg!

Update from Athens:
Found this gem while walking back to our apartment from the National Archaeological Museum.

They're already using a Phi character for the first "f" sound, so why not repeat at the end???  Even we spell it philosoPHy!!!
